WOMEN AND FAMILY Under the Iranian Constitution, the family is the basic unit of society and the main center for growth and ascendance of man. Women enjoy a rich Islamic culture from which they draw their strength. They rely on the power of religion to bring vitality, justice and equality to the family, and to revive their cultural identity. Islamic rules account for strong family ties, deep positive changes in gender relations, and raising the status of women. The family, in the wide sense of the word, is a shelter for its own members, and Iranian women have successfully combined family obligations with career responsibilities and participating in the public life. |
